5 Things About Introverts That Other People Need To Understand

1. Introverts aren't necessarily shy, socially awkward people.

The biggest misconception about introverts is that we're a bunch of socially awkward people who can't get dates and no one likes. We can be bubbly, outgoing, and tons of fun to be around. Where we differ is what we do after. Some people can party all night, pass out, wake up and party some more. Introverts can party all night, but once the night is over, get out of their houses.

2. Introverts have trouble being around people all the time.

This makes team-focused work of any kind an extra challenge for us. We can put up with it, but it's hard. It's draining. You find yourself in a situation where you go to school then go to work then come home to your family or whoever you live with - it's taxing. Alone time is important for introverts.

3. Introverts are a little bit quieter.

It's not that we don't have anything to say, we simply weigh the value of what we say before it leaves our mouths. We also get a lot of gratification out of listening to what others have to say. There aren't enough listeners in the world anyway.

4. Introverts don't have very many friends.

Which isn't to say that it's because we can't make friends, we just don't want a lot of friends. We don't want a lot of friends. That just isn't how we operate. We'd rather have 5 best friends than 100 people we see sometimes.

5. Introverts are easily overwhelmed by large crowds.

But that doesn't mean we can't handle them. We just need extra down time after a concert or festival of any time.
