5 Things Highly Successful People Do Before Bed

Success certainly comes from hard work, but it can also come from ending each day on the right note. It'll leave you in a position to wake the next day and conquer the world. So to speak. What do the most successful people do before bed?

1. Read.

No TV before bed! Successful people read before going to bed. Bill Gates himself even said he spends an hour reading a book before he goes to bed. Reading before bed also improves long time brain health and can keep your mind sharp into old age.

2. Walk.

Taking a quick walk before bed is a great way to clear your mind and get a little physical activity. You'll sleep better and wake up more refreshed the following day. One study also showed that walking improved creativity.

3. Unplug.

According to Dr Charles Czeisler, a sleep medicine professor at Harvard, bright lights from phones in particular disrupt the natural sleeping rhythms of our bodies and trick us into thinking it's day time. It sends a message to our brains that we need to wake up, so it releases the wake up chemicals. This can wreak havoc on your sleep and leave you feeling foggy the next day. Which is no way for a successful person to be!

4. Meditate.

Everyone's always recommending you meditate for everything these days. But hey, it's for good reason. Meditation is immensely helpful for a number of different things from stress to relaxation to creativity. Meditation can do a number on anxiety, depression, and pain too.

5. Plan.

Grab your notebook and plan out the next day before bed. I actually use a spreadsheet with one tab for smaller daily tasks and another tab for larger projects that may take time or need daily work. The more you plan, the more likely you are to be successful.
