Every Year This Ancient Chinese Ginkgo Tree Covers A Buddhist Temple With An Ocean Of Golden Leaves

Every autumn, something special happens to the Gu Guanyin Buddhist Temple in the Zhongnan Mountains of China. A 1400 year old ginkgo tree showers it with bright, golden leaves. The leaves start to fall in the middle of November, creating a thick, beautiful sheet of golden leaves.

Ginkgo trees are often called “living fossils” because they’ve existed for approximately 200 million years without evolving or changing much at all. Even though the Earth has gone through climate changes, and is today going through drastic human-created climate change. They stand as tall as they did when dinosaurs walked the Earth.
