Andrew and Leah both have Down Syndrome, but that's not all they have in common. As if through an act of fate itself, this couple's path through the years guided them towards each other, and they believe they were made to be in love. Here is their story from the beginning.
Written In The Stars
This couple believes that they were indeed "destined to be." Before Leah and Andrew were ever fully introduced to one another, they had lingered around the same spots and events without realizing it. It was like the universe was placing them at the right place, at the right time.
Being from the same geographical area, working out at the same gym, and attending the same gymnastics competition had them running in the same circles, their souls tugging on one another, waiting for the day their relationship would blossom. They're lovers written in the stars.
Struggling With Self-Esteem
Along the journey of life, Leah faced many challenges that helped shape her into the wonderful person that she is today. In her younger years, she struggled with low confidence and self-esteem. Instead of this being her downfall, she turned lemons into lemonade to make the world a better place.
From running a small arts program to uniting people with disabilities, Leah eventually turned her project into a non-profit organization called Positive You. Her hard work in improving the lives of people around her did not go unnoticed but instead, brought her good karma. In fact, it was at one of her group meetings that Andrew walked through the doors, and the couple connected for the first time.

The relationship moved fast but remained strong. On Andrew's 38th birthday, he popped the big question at a local restaurant. Sitting with the love of his life, he wondered anxiously: Would Leah marry him? Luckily for him, this was exactly what she was hoping for.
Andrew explained his love for his new fiance: "As soon as I saw her I knew that she was the one. It was fate, I think we were destined to be with each other. I could tell I had almost let her get away from those near misses and I knew I had to reel her in."

Always Dreamed Of Being A Bride
For Leah, her wedding ceremony was something she had dreamt about since she was a little girl. Like many others, a fancy dress, pretty flowers, and a prince charming would fill her heart and brain while growing up.
"When I was younger, I was a bit shy, but I had a dream to have the perfect big day to show how much I loved somebody in front of our families."
Luckily for this woman, the universe had a plan to turn her dreams into reality by creating Andrew: "he's my best friend and I want to grow old with him."
A Fairy-Tale Wedding
Despite the Pandemic postponing the wedding various times, the couple finally experienced the fairy-tale dream wedding that Leah had dreamed about. Surrounded by 28 guests of close family and friends, Leah walked down the aisle in an All Saints Church to the beat of Christina Perri's "A Thousand Years."
Leah looked stunning in her Cinderella wedding gown, and the couple radiated happiness from head to toe. Although they've already celebrated this picture-perfect day, they plan to throw an even bigger celebration this year with everyone who missed it due to COVID-19.
A Supportive Family
Even when Leah felt like giving up hope, her family was right by her side to help her see the light at the end of the tunnel. Her mother's support was a life boat in a sea of dating failures, "I had listened to Leah longing for a relationship for some time ... We always had a little saying and I would tell her 'he’s just around the corner."
"From the moment Leah was born, her dad and I took the attitude that she would have access to everything her brothers had, so having a relationship was exactly what we always wanted for her because she wanted it for herself."
The Best Things Come To Those Who Wait
Before finding their life partner and best friend all in one person, Leah and Andrew both lived through the trials and tribulations of dating. It wasn't an easy road to the love of their life, but this couple wants their story to be listened to as an inspiration for anyone out their giving up on love.
