When you enter into a relationship with someone, a serious relationship, you want to give what you can on an emotional level.

Physical connections are obvious, but emotional connections open windows into another person’s very being. Those windows will never open all the way unless you and your partner are truly emotionally available.

It’s not hard to tell if the person you’re in a relationship with isn’t emotionally available; the hard part is accepting it. If you’re giving yourself emotionally and the other person isn’t, you can probably feel it.

Emotional connections involve a give and take, and you’ll be able to tell if you’re the only one giving.

1. They Don’t Consider Your Feelings

Empathy and sympathy are things felt by those who are emotionally available.

If you’re in a relationship with someone and they don’t take your feelings into consideration, it’s because they aren’t allowing themselves to connect with you on an emotional level.

A working, serious relationship involves two people who feel the same things; when one person is upset, the other person feels upset for them.
