5 Signs Your Partner is Trying to Hide Their Anxiety
Anxiety is one of the most mind-crippling things that anyone could ever have the misfortune of experiencing. To give you an idea how horrible this problem actually is, 18.1% of people who are 18 or older have anxiety, which means that there about 40 million people in the world who are constantly suffering from this problem.
If you have ever suffered from anxiety, then you know all too well how exhausting it is to go about daily life having to constantly be in a battle with yourself.
You would not wish for the same for others, including your partner. Here are some indications that they may have hidden anxiety within themselves.
1. Unpredictable Mood Swings
If your significant other has unpredictable mood swings, they may have a case of hidden anxiety. Sometimes when they are in this battle with themselves and they do not know how to react properly to the thoughts they are having, they can often times lash out or snap at you over the smallest of things. It is important that you remind them that things may be easily fixable. Remind them you are there for their wants and needs, and that you love them with all of your heart.
2. Have Troubles With Digestion
Essentially, if you have troubles with the thoughts in your head, chances are that you are going to have some associated digestive problems as well. To give you an idea what this means, 80 to 90 percent of the brain's calming neurotransmitters are designed to release serotonin, which is produced within the gastrointestinal tract. This means that not only will they have poor digestion but also inefficient production of serotonin in their system.
3. Little To No Energy
People who are suffering from hidden anxiety often have little, to no energy at all to spare on day to day tasks. This is because of the constant stress they are feeling. Having to feel fear, worry, and doubt all at once can literally zap your body of all available energy. It takes too much effort to be negative, and as a result they do not have any energy to spare for the rest of the world.
4. Comfort Food
If your partner is suffering from hidden anxiety, you may notice that they are constantly eating or binging on junk food or other processed snacks. This behavior is because they wish to escape their feelings through the comfort of food, an instinct that is triggered within them once their minds have gone into panic mode. This is a very unhealthy symptom and can result in dire consequences.
5. Constant Headaches or Migraines
People who are suffering from hidden anxiety often experience way too many headaches or even migraines. Stress is the ultimate reason for this. When a person is stressed, they create muscle tension, especially around the head, and then a headache soon forms afterward.
Exercise is a wonderful way for you and your partner to eliminate stress as well as a variety of other methods that you can try together as a team. It's important that you stick with them. Keep telling your partner just how much you love them regardless of this horrible circumstance in their life.
