1. Envy.

Take a moment and look around you.

Chances are, you're staring at a screen on an expensive device, you have a warm home to return to at the end of the day, and there are probably a few people who love you.

2. Drama.

There's some sick gratification that comes from working up the people around you, but it won't result in happiness. If anything, it'll result in lower lows and loneliness, which is no way to find joy.

3. Excuses.

When you make mistakes, you don't need to excuse yourself. You can apologize and simply move on from there. There's little point in trying to beg people to forgive you through excuses.

4. Laziness.

When you're not happy, it's easy to fall into a cycle of laziness. When you find yourself in this kind of position, make a list of things you want to do, then one at a time, do them.

5. Complaining.

There's nothing wrong with complaining, but by itself it's useless. If you have the energy to complain, you have the energy to start making changes too.

6. Worry.

Worry is a misuse of imagination, after all. It's pointless to worry about tomorrow. Cross that bridge when you get there. Instead, make today the best day you can.
