Now that we all have our own cellphones fully equipped with high-quality video cameras, it seems like more and more people are coming forward with what seems like evidence of the paranormal. These are everyday people going on about their lives when they notice something strange and while trying to record it to make sense of it and show others, end up capturing the presence of a spirit.
That’s what happened to Frank Ramirez when he couldn’t explain how the phone in his room kept coming off the hook by itself over and over again. He decided to try to talk to the suspected spirit and then things got really weird…Some say the video a hoax, others are defending paranormal claims. Watch the video and decide for yourself.
Third Time Was The Charm
Meet Frank Ramirez, an average guy who was staying in a mediocre hotel just to get some rest before going to work. Frank actually stays at the Country Side Inn quite often because he has to travel nearby for work. Usually, his stay goes smoothly but this time something strange kept happening in the room that he was in.
On this particular occasion, Ramirez was assigned room 38. There was something eerie about room 38. The phone kept coming off the hook. After the third time the phone was yanked off the hook, he decided to start recording. “It’s never happened to me before in the hotel — never experienced anything like that,” he says.
Unexplainable Movements And Missing Objects
Frank Ramirez posted the video on his Facebook page hoping someone could help him make sense of what was happening right in front of his eyes, “I don’t know what it is, but I know it was here. You be the judge.” He starts out the video by explaining that he feels freaked out and that objects keep being moved around and dropping. He hopes to be able to prove it on camera.
In the nearly 6-minute video, a phone comes off its hook, a towel is yanked off a bathroom counter, and a hanger moves, all of this without anyone touching the items. The room is small and has a few mirrors, and never is another person seen in the room.
Another Guest From Room 38 Backed Up The Claims
Although it’s possible that this man was just hoping for attention and pranking the internet, the story gets weirder. Without telling anyone or saying in the video which room he was staying in, another woman from San Antonio messaged him on Facebook.
The woman said that she had stayed in room 38 and woke up “with her face scratched up.” This was the same room that Frank was staying which backed up his claims and confirmed the possibility of the hotel room being haunted.
Believing In The Paranormal
Frank told KSAT he believed in paranormal activity before this encounter, but his experience just solidifies his belief as he is convinced that he was in fact dealing with a ghost.
In the video, Frank tries to communicate directly with the ghost. At first, he just asks for proof of its presence asking: “can you move something else again for me?” as he looks at a towel on the counter, it falls making it look like the ghost was responding. Frank then proceeds by telling the ghost that although he is freaked out, he is not scared by it. Then Frank opens the hotel room and invites the ghost to be released into the world and to leave his room. It’s unclear whether the ghost stays or goes.
Real Or Cinema? You Be The Judge
The video has gone viral since being posted which means that a lot of people have seen it and shared their opinions. Some are convinced that Frank has managed to fool the over a million people who have watched the video. Viewers have tried to rationalize the paranormal events by concluding that Frank must have used some sort of fishing line to pull the objects toward him and noted how Ramirez appears to be moving backward each time the objects move.
One person commented:”Starting around 2:15 to 2:30 he moved the camera around to the other side of the room to grab a string attached to the towel and then faced the mirror/towel to pull the string,” one commenter wrote. “After that, he then laughed.”
Some Proof Can’t Be Dismissed
Not everyone thinks the video is fake. Some viewers are defending the paranormal claims saying that Frank’s movement throughout the hotel room debunks the fishing line theory and couldn’t been have faked. For instance when Frank asks the ghosts “Can you speak a little louder” the phone falls off the table from across the roomm.
As for Frank, he respects the skeptics’ comments but stands by what he saw: “the proof is in the pudding…Everybody’s got their own opinion and I’m open to that and I appreciate it, but I’m not going to disrespect or talk down to anyone just because they don’t believe the video, or don’t believe it’s real,” he said. “That’s why I filmed in the mirror and walked all around (the motel room).”
Not Worth The Risk
If this was a movie, Frank would have probably kept chasing the ghost to solve the mystery himself. But, in real life, Frank was too freaked out to actually spend the night. Whether the ghost was real or not, he wasn’t staying to find out. After recording the video, Frank went to the front desk and the motel staff assigned him a new room. He said he turned on all of the lights in his new room, but didn’t sleep for a minute
Frank said hotel staff members told him they won’t be renting out the room until they get it blessed. Frank has since also been keeping Bible on him wherever he goes and held it tight on his way home. The alternative wasn’t worth the risk.
