5 Ways To Mend A Broken Relationship
1. Listen fully.
Listen to what your partner has to say, and I mean really, really listen. Actively listen to them. Your body language should show them that you're getting their message. Make eye contact with them. Turn toward them. Uncross your arms. Don't look at the cell phone. Summarize what they're saying to make sure you understand.
2. Express yourself too.
It isn't always about listening. You have to express your truth as well. When you speak, speak calmly and respectfully. Look at them in the eyes when you speak. Make sure they understand what it is that you're saying to them.
3. Don't lash out in anger.
Even if you're hurt, stay soft. Don't turn away from them. Respond to them with kindness and compassion, the very things that made them fall in love with you in the first place. Have empathy. Understand how they feel.
4. Embrace changes.
Relationships, once something has happened that compromises them, are changed forever. You can't fight against this change. Instead embrace and add to it. Consider ways that you can accept the changes and make the relationship even better than it was before.
5. Don't give up.
Be persistent. It may take a lot of time and energy and love to mend a broken relationship, but it is absolutely worth it in the end.
