David Ludwig, a Harvard pediatrician and nutrition specialist, has published research that exposes the negative aspects of consuming various dairy products. He specifically questions the prevailing advice that an average person should drink three glasses of fat-free milk a day.

The American Academy of Pediatrics, the US Department of Agriculture and other organizations are against consuming calories from sugary drinks, but recommend drinking fat free milk.

Ludwig points out that by recommending so much low fat milk, they contradict their advice of avoiding sugar and artificially sweetened drinks. Low fat milk normally replaces the fats with sugars.

“This recommendation is perhaps the most prevailing advice given to the American population in the last half a century. As a result, Americans are consuming billions of gallons of milk per year, presumably under the assumption that their bones would crumble without milk, said Ludwig. “The worst possible situation is reduced-fat chocolate milk: if the fat is removed-it is less tasty. In order to get your children to drink 3 cups per day, you give them sugar-sweetened beverages,.”

The added ingredients cancels out any potential benefits. It’s simpler and more beneficial to drink whole milk. If the product is natural and taken from healthy, grass fed animals it can help increase vitamin intake, lower disease risk, control diabetes and help weight loss efforts.

Instead of drinking altered milk products, the focus should be on well raised animals and ‘clean’ animal by products. There are more than 20 antitoxins, painkillers, and other various toxins and steroids that can be found i different products.
