According to two studies, published in 2006 and 2009, people who read fiction are the most capable of empathy and “theory of mind,” which is the ability to hold opinions and beliefs apart from their own. They entertain different types of ideas without necessarily rejecting them, nor changing their own beliefs.
Readers have had access to many different souls and have collected some wisdom for each one. They’ve learned how to be who they are. They’ve learned what it’s like to suffer. And this makes them excellent, giving lovers.
Another study, published in 2010, reinforced the idea. Reading clearly helps mold your character and adds to your knowledge. Each book is a triumph. Readers travel with these authors through their pain, their joy, their sorrow, and their victories.
A reader is an excellent person to choose to complete you, to fill your heart with love. Readers don’t just talk to you, they speak to you. They don’t get you, they understand you. They’re not just smarties, they’re actually wise. These traits make them perfect companions.
They’re a breed that’s slowly dying out, sadly. Find one while you can!
