Inside Villa Demidoff located just north of Florence, Italy, there is a gigantic 35-foot 16th century sculpture called Colosso dell’Appennino, or the Appennine Colossus. It stands like a guardian of the pond in front of him.

Inside of this rugged statue is an incredible secret – his interior is filled with several rooms that perform different functions. It’s rumored that at one time, lighting a fire in one of the rooms caused smoke to billow out of his nostrils.
