Most people take clean, purified water for granted. However, for people living in third world countries, becoming sick from a dirty water source is a constant concern.
Nearly 1.5 million deaths every year are due to diarrhea-related illnesses, mostly due to unclean water supplies. According to LifeStraw, Diarrhea kills more young children than AIDS, malaria, and measles combined. However, this new invention could change everything.
The LifeStraw is a 22 cm-long purification pipe. It was designed by the Danish in 2005 as a way to clean drinking water in poor, under developed countries. This device is capable of saving countless lives and because of that facts, it was named the Invention of the Century by Gizmag and declared Best Invention of 2005 by Time Magazine. It was also regarded as “one of the ten things that will change the way we live” by Forbes magazine and the New York Times declared it as a “water purifier that could save lives.”
This video featured below highlights the capabilities of the device and even shows someone drinking water from a toilet! A perfect example of how amazing the LifeStraw is.is.
