I Wish I Met Some People A Little Earlier
4 Signs It's Time To Break Up With A Friend
We usually think about breakups as something that happens between romantic partners, but that isn't always the case.
Sometimes the people who are in our lives in a platonic way need to be shown the door. Not every friendship works out. Why?
1. We change and so do our friendships.
We all change. We all mature. Sometimes we grow in different directions as we age.
Sometimes your pal from college wants to party and doesn't understand why you're staying at home with your young family.
Sometimes you're the one who gets left behind in a sense too. These things happen.
2. They get a little too attached.
It's hard to grow as a person if you're being bogged down by someone who's entirely too dependent on you. There's really no value in holding on to friendships when you're the one holding them up.
3. They just don't get you.
It's better to be lonely than to be stuck with people who don't understand who you are and what you're all about.
4. Our friends don't match up with our interests.
Your interests determine who your friends are more than anything else.
Especially if your interests change, it can be hard to maintain those relationships. Sometimes those interests weren't there in the first place.
