Self-respect entails a variety of simple things that we are all capable of possessing. However, sometimes we lose focus of what it means to have self-respect for ourselves by altering our personalities to fit the mold that society has claimed to be “perfect.”

Well, let me be the first to say that there is no such thing as perfect in this world, not even humans are able to be absolutely perfect.

We can still have self-respect and some of the best ways that we can achieve true self-respect is by avoiding these kinds of behaviors that do the opposite for us in the long run.

Are you still searching for your life purpose? You won’t believe what the science of Numerology can reveal about you!

That’s right, the numerology of your birth date, regardless of what month you were born, can reveal surprising information about your personality.

Staying true to yourself and what you believe is right from wrong is key.

1. Going To A Job You Despise Daily

Your happiness is of the utmost importance above everything else that happens in your life.

If you feel as if the job that you go to every single day provides you no satisfaction whatsoever, then what is the point of being there in the first place?

Sure, a paycheck is nice, you need it to pay bills, your entertainment, etc. but at the cost of your true happiness? Does your passion involve you being miserable at your place of work 24/7?

You must decide which is more important and then fight for it.

2. Seeking Acceptance From Others

When we try to improve ourselves we will do anything it takes to gain acceptance from those around us. Have you ever considered that fitting in might not be the best solution to self-improvement?

Being just like everybody else means that you don’t necessarily care for anything that you, yourself, are interested in.

You need to show others what you’re made of, demonstrate the confidence that everyone lacks in order to be different.

Fitting in isn’t always the best solution when it comes to self-respect.

3. Self-Hate

To be blunt, there is not other person in the world that is like you.

To have a negative view of your self-image is probably one of the most counterproductive things you could do in order to have self-respect.

That is the whole point of self-respect after all, is loving yourself, standing up for the things that you believe in, and fighting for the change that you want to see flourish in this world.

If you are constantly putting negative energy out in the world what do you think is going to come right back to you?

Think about all of the things that make you an awesome person and if there isn’t any at the moment then start transforming yourself into someone you love!

4. Never Seeing The Bigger Picture

If you want to gain self-respect then you are going to have to look at more than just one perspective. That’s the beauty of our world is that you are able to look at things in more than one way.

There may be a variety of bad times in your life but those adversities challenge us to see the bigger picture that we play a part in. You must remain open to any and every kind of possibility that can happen to you.

Keeping yourself closed off to the world is doing more harm than good.

5. Making Everyone Happy

Unfortunately, you cannot be a “people pleaser” your entire life.

Sure, you may want to try and make every single thing perfect for everyone to enjoy but that’s an extremely high expectation that hardly anyone is able to fulfill on their own.

Instead of trying to make everyone else happy, focus on your own happiness. People who see you doing the things that you love will eventually flock to you like moths to a light.

Your happiness outshines everyone else’s once you’ve figured out how to master that kind of happiness.

Hopefully this has helped you figure out what it means to have self-respect for yourself. Take the necessary steps to create the change that you wish to see within yourself as well as the world.

You must be willing to fight for the things you want in life that will make you the happiest.
