7 Things You Should Stop Expecting From Other People

Sometimes we ask a lot of the people in our lives, whether they’re partners, friends, coworkers, or simple acquaintances. But there are some things that we should stop immediately expecting from everyone.

1. Expecting Them To Agree With You

You have a right to your opinions, and while they may seem correct to you, others may have a different way of thinking. That’s fine! The people in your life don’t have to agree with you all the time, and you don’t always have to agree with them.

2. Expecting They Respect You No Watter What

What’s really important is respecting yourself. You should love yourself and take care of yourself. If other people don’t respect you at all, forget about them. There are probably plenty of people who do.

3. Expecting Them To Like You

Chances are, you’re a fine example of a person. But still, everyone is a little different and not everyone is going to like you. Oh well! Cherish the people in your life who do like you, and like them back!

4. Expecting Them To Be Who You Want Them To Be

This is a tough one. The people in our lives are independent people. It can be tempting to try to pull the strings and control everything, but they’re going to do what they want to do. If you respect the people that they are, chances are, they’ll like you quite a bit more. See #3.

5. Expecting That They Know What You’re Thinking At All Times

Your friends aren’t mind-readers. If something bugs you, tell them. On the other hand, if you’re really happy with your relationship with them, that’s fine to share too.

6. Expecting Them To Change For You

You shouldn’t change for other people. You should change because you want to change. The same goes for the people in your life. If you think changes should be made, gentle encouragement is acceptable but don’t try to force it.

7. Expecting Them To Always Be Fine With What You’re Doing

Sometimes we do messed up things. We should be told about it when we do, right?
