These hero volunteers have saved six dogs that were abandoned in a locked cage in North Carolina during the recent Hurricane.

Currently, at least 16 lives have been lost across the state of North Carolina, due to Hurricane Florence. The winds, rain, and floods were devastating.

The video below captures the moment volunteers discovered six dogs who were locked in a cage and abandoned during the storm.

These animals would have certainly perished in the flood waters if these rescuers hadn’t found them in time.

Landowners left their house and animals to escape during the hurricane. The dogs were located on a piece of land in Leland, North Carolina.

The video was recorded by Journalist Marcus DiPaola, and he posted the following to Twitter:

“Rescued six dogs in Leland, NC, after the owner LEFT THEM locked in an outdoor cage that filled with flood water that was rapidly rising. We got them out, but by the time we left, the water was so high that they would have drowned. BRING YOUR PETS WITH YOU!”

Once the volunteers opened the gate, the dogs immediately swam to safety! I’m so glad they survived.
