It’s amazing how much stuff we accumulate in our daily lives. While you may not be trying to collect items, others may have a problem with unnecessarily gathering excessive stuff. No matter if it is done accidentally or to satiate some hidden desire of yours, it is not healthy to have too much stuff.

If you start looking to items to make you feel good, confident or happy then you are loosing track of internal resources of happiness and ability. Especially if the decision to let go of material goods is hard for you, this is sign you are growing too attached. Do yourself a favor and let go, move on.

Take Your Time But Make Quick Decisions Based On Fact

Tackle your project one item at a time. If you find yourself wondering if you should keep it or get rid of it for more than three minutes ask the following questions.

Is it broken? If it is how long has it been broken and are you really going to fix it? There is no point in keeping broken gadgets, but we do it all the time. Don’t be afraid to get rid of your worldly possessions, if they have no purpose or strong memories attached, then it isn’t healthy to tie your emotions in it. Letting go will help you grow and develop. You can always get more stuff.

Create A Maybe Box, Trash Container, And A Donation Bag

To help stay organized and efficient get at least three boxes or bags labeled maybe, trash, and donation. The maybe box is stuff you aren’t sure if you have any need for or will want to keep. The trash container is pretty obvious, it will be filled with the stuff you know you don’t want anymore and no one would want.

The donation box should be filled with stuff that you will give to Goodwill or other donation centers. Just because you don’t need something doesn’t mean others can’t benefit from your past purchases.

Break Up The Workload

You don’t have to spend an entire weekend going through and cleaning everything. Break up the work into a couple hours per day if you like. Take a break every thirty minutes. It is important to take breaks to keep you focused and to avoid burn out. This task is supposed to help you, it isn’t supposed to be a terrible or straining experience.

You can also slow it down more. map out the space you want to change and work on a section a day. Do one shelf, then rest and celebrate. The next day do another shelf or clear out the drawers in your desk. Going at a slower pace will help you stay consistent, focused and hardworking. Be sure that you don’t have ass any step, if you do a shelf clear everything away from the shelf and clean it.

Create A System

After you have finished clearing out the junk and unnecessary items, you will be left with a lot of new space. Create a new method of keeping yourself organized. Be sure to make it so that corners don’t accumulate new unnecessary piles.

Think about how you first came to have an excess of possessions, how can you change your lifestyle so it doesn’t happen again? You may want to buy some bins or shelves to aid you in staying on top of your Earthly goods. This problem occured because you were not organized, or organized enough.

It’s amazing how much stuff we accumulate in our daily lives. While you may not be trying to collect items, others may have a problem with unnecessarily gathering excessive stuff.
