Okay, so this is absolutely rule #1: if you’re worried about something, get off the internet. Web M.D. is the absolute worst website for you if you suffer from anxiety.
Are you afraid of something? Fine. Be as dramatic about it as you can. It may seem pretty silly, but when you blow your fears out of proportion and get really dramatic about them, you start to see them as being silly.
Get outside and go for a run. Ride a bike. Hike up a mountain. Exercise is an excellent way to treat your anxiety. Aerobic exercise has been found to be a mild depression relief and excellent at killing your anxiety.
Going through a rough patch? Indulge in comfort foods or hit the mall. Treat yoself.
If you’re having trouble getting your anxiety under control, try meditation. Meditation has been proven to reduce cortisol, the stress hormone.
If all else fails, it’s time for a mantra. “I am okay,” is a favorite of mine. Repeat it as many times as you need to. You really are okay. You really will be fine. You can incorporate mantras into meditation too.
