4 Obvious Signs You’re Maturing, Not Just Aging

Maturing has really changed my perspectives and priorities. I used to be a social butterfly, so anxious to be accepted and rushing through life to try to pack in as much as I could everyday. Through trial and error, I slowed down and started to appreciate life more.

I spend my time more wisely now, not giving everyone the time of day they believe they are entitled to. I realized that many of my friendships were working mainly due to my one sided effort or because I was providing some good or service.

As I cut people from my life, I had more time for what really matters: family, my boyfriend, and my true friends. Getting older is a true blessing, as long as you are willing to learn from your experiences and work towards a better tomorrow and you.

You Aren’t As Likely To Put Others Before Yourself

When we care for someone it’s easy to want to do everything we can for them. This is sweet, but not always healthy.

You Recognize And Avoid Crappy People More Easily

Before I was willing to give people chances they didn’t always deserve. I wanted to believe that I could be friends with everyone, and everyone would equally help everyone. This isn’t normally the case. I have a more discerning palate when it comes to the people I interact with and how much I invest.

Making New Friends Isn’t That Important

If I looked at a list of wishes from when I was in college, somewhere on there would be ‘meeting more amazing people’. My current list doesn’t have that anywhere. I still look for amazing people, but not actively, I focus on my personal happiness practices, helping my community and enjoying moments. Awesome people are bound to come my way and when they do, I want to have neat stuff to show them.

You Don’t Tolerate Bullshit Or Disrespect

I don’t accept nonsense from anyone. My acceptable bullshit levels were higher ‘back in the day’, but even then I didn’t want to accept it, I thought I had to. NOPE, not the case at all. You don’t have to put up with anything to be friends with someone and if they try to force you to, then drop them. It shows They don’t respect you or themselves.
