Have you heard of the confidence gap? it’s the idea that men generally have a positive outlook on life because of their assumed skills and job prospects. Then women have a harder time because they believe they’re not good enough for a promotion or as deserving as the men around them.

Confident women have been able to break through the gap. They hold a high estimate of their worth and they’re not afraid to show it to the world. So what is it that they do differently that makes them so likable and successful? Here are are the five small things that make a big difference that confident women do.

They Have A Ritual For Low Times

What makes or breaks a person is how they deal with the tough times. Confident women have it down to a system. When they’re feeling low, they don’t just cave to it and let it take over their whole demeanor. Instead, they each have their own unique ritual that helps them snap out of it.

Some confident women report having a journal where they read out loud their affirmations and release their anxious thoughts. Others meditate or go for a walk, immersing themselves in nature. They find what works, and they stick with it, even when it’s the last thing they want to do. Confident women are also disciplined women.

Do you know what the easiest way is not to judge others? It’s to simply not care. Who cares if someone at work got a promotion even though you’ve been there longer or your younger sister got married first. Confident women know that they are on their own path to success and the timing that serves them best.

So instead of judging others, which would mean that they’re wasting time comparing themselves, they feel genuinely happy for them. Congratulate instead of project hate.

They Know When To Say No

Confident women know the difference between acts of kindness and people-pleasing. They don’t say yes when they know it will drain their energy and let themselves be taken advantage of. A Research study actually found that the more difficulty that you have to say no, the more likely you are to experience stress, burnout, and even depression.

That’s why confident people know that saying no is healthy, and they have enough self-esteem not to worry about how the other person might take.

They’re Driven By Purpose

Confident women aren’t easily taken down because they’re driven by something much bigger than other people’s criticism and negativity. They’re motivated by their purpose, and they’re not willing to be distracted with pettiness. There will be people who won’t stand to see them succeed and who won’t believe in them, criticizing every step along the way.

They know they have two options, either they can let the noise of others tear down their self-esteem and give up, or they can listen to their own voice and keep going till they get what they want.

They Don’t Worry About Fitting Into Ideals

Confident women are ahead of the game. They’ve already cracked the code and understood long ago that society is filled with unrealistic standards so there is no point to try and fit into them. They know that a lot of the ideals and expectations are set out by industries that don’t necessarily have women’s best interests in mind.

Instead, a confident woman sets her own standards with only the values and expectations that she knows will help her move forward in life.

They love Their Alone Time

The reality is, the world is full of unnecessary noise. If we spent all of our time surrounded by others or on social media, we’re likely to take on all of its baggage and let its insecurities project on us. Instead, confident women know that they need to empty their cup first before it gets filled by the world.

So, they take the time to be alone and completely sign off. During this time they practice whatever elements of self-care best serve their needs, whether it’s a candle-lit bath or solo dance party. This allows them to shake off the extra weight that could be weighing down and walk out the door feeling fresh and on top of the world.
