1. Let fear control them.

Simply put: mature people don’t let fear determine for them what they do and don’t do. They don’t allow fear to stand in between them and what they want. They realize success is up to them, and fear is no excuse.

2. Doing things to please others.

Mature people understand that making the people around them happy is a good thing to do, but they also realize that some of that happiness has to come from within for them.

They take actions to put smiles on the faces of people around them, but they won’t put themselves out.

3. They don’t idealize romance.

Love comes in so many different shapes and sizes and mature people totally get that. They may have fantasized about a bohemian fling with an artist or marrying rich, but not anymore.

4. They trust their partners.

Mature people expect that their thoughts, ideas, and actions will be respected and they give that same respect to their partners.

5. They don’t hold grudges.

Holding a grudge is like drinking a poison and expecting the other person to get sick.

Mature people realize that a burned bridge isn’t any use to anyone. They like to keep a door open, just in case.

6. They aren’t insecure about their appearance.

Mature people don’t really care what they look like for the most part.

They know how to present themselves in every situation, but they don’t obsess over gray hairs or blemishes.

7. They keep family close.

I think there’s a period in every young person’s life where they’re just so eager to get away from their parents and family, but as you mature, you boomerang a bit. It’s an important thing to do.

Mature people love strong families. If they don’t have a good family, they’ll make their own out of their friends.

8. They don’t get bullied.

It’s incredible to me how often bullying continues well into adulthood instead of stopping in the 7th grade like it should.

Mature people will crush any kind of bullying they experience in life. You have been warned.

9. They take decisive action.

Mature people weigh their options, sure, but once the options are weighed, they don’t dally on making a decision.

They act decisively in all areas of life. When the time comes to choose, they pull the trigger.

10. They don’t let their ego get the best of them.

Mature people know they’re strong, but they don’t let their ego go to their heads. Ego creates hubris, and hubris leads to kinks in the armor.

Part of their maturity is being able to identify areas which they aren’t proficient and work hard at getting better.
